Keyword Analysis and Recent Visitors 11-2-07

As I mentioned in a previous post, it is interesting for me to find the keywords that people have used in search engines to find my blog. I look every once in a while, and find some that are surprising, odd, informative, or just curious. Here is the most recent list. My page on Search Engine Wars indicates that Google was used 90% of the time, Yahoo 7%, and Earthlink, Google Blog Search, and Windows Live each coming in at 1%. I occasionally see a search engine other than these, but these are the percentages on the last 500 searches.

Oh, and for the person trying to figure out which car I drive (I also saw the question posted at TOD), it is a Nissan Micra. I have never seen them anywhere but in the UK. My wife prefers it over the Vauxhall Astra that we bought for her to haul the kids around, so we are frequently fighting over who gets to drive the Micra. I don’t recommend the Micra for driving in the Scottish Highlands, as it barely made it up some of those hills.

I just found an easier way to do this. I can just cut and paste an entire string. The first entry indicates how many times that search term was used, followed by the recent percentages of the last 129 entries (why that number, I have no idea), followed by the search term. I have to admit that some of them leave me scratching my head:

For good measure, here is where the last 500 visitors came from. Those numbers shift quite a bit during the day. (It’s 4:30 a.m. in the UK as I write this; I couldn’t sleep). For instance, the UK and Canada always flip-flop after Canada goes to bed.

  1. Diesel or petrol powered Micra? What kind if mileage you get? Given the cost and environmental downside of battery replacement in hybrids, who do you rate your car choice?

  2. Petrol, and it gets around 50. Plus or minus, depending on whether my wife is driving it (minus) or me. It’s a good car for the short trips that we take, but as I said, it struggled in the Highlands. If all I was doing was city driving, I might opt for something even smaller than the Micra.
